This animation shows how a population of candidates is evolved to discover good solutions. The animation is conceptual and uses the search for effective webpage designs as an example. The search space is visualized as a 2D plane, and the candidates are shown as dots (i.e. locations) on this plane. The larger the dot, the more fit the candidate. Successive generations are shown as successive planes, and parent-offspring relationships by lines between planes. Play the video to see how evolution proceeds to find good solutions!
